GOLD FRONT - February Update

February has been another busy and successful month here at Gold Front.

The 2016 Perth Magic Millions sales were held at the Belmont Park Sales Complex on the 15/16th February, and Gold Front were proud to present a draft of 14 outstanding yearlings by a mix of top interstate stallions.

Our top lot was Lot 315 – an athletic colt by Australia’s most sort after sire SNITZEL, out of extremely talented mare For Your Eyes Only. This outstanding colt was purchased by talented Victorian trainer Robbie Laing for $150,000, and is set for a great career over east.

Gold Front presented the first two yearlings to be sold in WA by superstar miler, Excelebration at the sales. Both yearlings were purchased by South African trainer Paul Lafferty and look set for success internationally.

We would like to wish all buyers the very best of luck with their new purchases. We look forward to watching them race in the future.

WINNERS CIRCLE

Politics stepped out in a Class 1 1690m at Bunbury on the 11th of February and produced an outstanding win. Sitting last, and 10 lengths off the leader at the 500m mark, Patrick Carbery weaved his way through the field like a race car driver, and shot to the front to beat Paris Romance on the line.

Politics race replay

The 4YO gelding by Citidancer out of Partisan produced another impressive run at Ascot on the 24th to finish 2nd behind Confusing. Politics has definitely proved himself to be a very competitive stayer, and looks to be one to watch in the future.

BRED FOR SUCCESS

Blue Diamond Stakes day is the Melbourne Racing Club's premier race day of the autumn, highlighted by the running of the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Gold Front Thoroughbreds were extremely proud to be represented on the day by 3 Gold Front bred horses.

Promising 2-year-old CHINA DREAM competed in one of the biggest 2YO races in Australia, the Group-1 Blue Diamond Stakes. The Blue Diamond Stakes is the premier two-year-old sprint event of the autumn carnival in Melbourne and the race itself has produced many a fine horse over the years. Top class gallopers such as Sepoy (2011), Alinghi (2004), Bel Esprit (2002), Redoutes Choice (1999) Courtza (1989) and Zeditave (1988) have all won this race since its inception. We were thrilled to have bred a horse in this race.

Gold Front bred and owned AWESOME ROCK jumped from barrier 14 and produced one of the best runs of his career in the Group-2 Peter Young Stakes. Unfortunately, with the combination of the wide gate, and the work he had to do early, he wasn’t able to get the win and finished fourth.

The Shaun Ritchie trained LET HER RIP traveled over from NZ to start in the Group-2 Armanasco Stakes. The 3-year-old filly had no luck in running and finished 9th. With only 1 length between 2nd and 9th, this was still a great run.

Awesome Rock and Let Her Rip are both horses to be on next start.

REHOMED RACEHORSES

Gold Front Thoroughbreds are dedicated in supporting and promoting retired thoroughbred racehorses.

Retired Thoroughbreds adapt very well to alternative lifestyles, particularly equestrian activities due to their versatility, athleticism and intelligence.

Once our horses finish their career on the race track, we are committed to finding them a loving home where they can shine off the track.
